The Right Foods for Great Looking Hair

	We all know that great looking hair is helped by regular trims and by using quality shampoo and conditioners but did you know that food also plays an important part in how our hair looks and feels? With the right foods, your hair can be at its healthiest. Eating right can help make your hair shine. Read on to find the best and tastiest! hair care tips from the team at Michael Richards.
	Whole grains.	Whole grains are full of B vitamins, iron and zinc. The foods to choose are whole-grain breads, breakfast cereals and pasta. Other good whole-grain sources are oatmeal, brown or wild rice.
	Salmon.	Fish is full of protein, which is the chief component of hair. Oily fish like salmon contains beneficial omega-3 fatty acids that can help prevent a dry scalp, as well as vitamin B-12 and iron.
	Nuts.	Cashews, pecans and almonds are full of zinc. Walnuts contain zinc too, along with alpha-linolenic acid and Brazil nuts provide the mineral selenium, which can help keep your scalp healthy. Many nuts contain B vitamins as well.
	Chicken and turkey.	Poultry is packed with protein; it’s also rich in iron.
	Eggs.	Eggs are another food that’s rich in protein; they’re also a good source of vitamin B-12 and biotin.
	Milk, yogurt and cheese.	Dairy products are plentiful sources of calcium and protein. Choose low-fat or fat-free versions so your waistline and hair can both benefit.
	Sunflower seeds.	Choose these for a snack — it has benefits for your hair because of its B vitamin content.
	Olive oil.	This healthy oil contains beneficial vitamin E, so use it in cooking as well as a salad dressing.

	Avocado.	Eat avocado to get a good dose of vitamin E
	Cauliflower and cabbage.	These vegetables provide silica, a mineral that may help protect your hair against loss and breakage.
	Broccoli and spinach.	Dark green leafy veggies are full of vitamins A and C. Your body uses these foods to produce sebum, the oily secretion on your scalp that works like a conditioner.
	Carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes.	The vitamin A in orange vegetables can help keep your scalp healthy.
	Onion and garlic.	Your hair will benefit from the bioflavonoids contained in these flavorful vegetables.

Michael Richards Supports MacMillan at World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in Ipswich

Leading Hairdressers, Michael Richards of Ipswich in Suffolk raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support by teaming up with the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Last Friday morning, 30th September, visitors to the salon were all welcomed with a freshly made cup of coffee and delicious home made cakes in return for a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support, which raised £113!

Michael commented: “We love to get involved with charity events and the coffee morning seemed the perfect vehcile to raise money whilst our clients were visiting the salon. All the stylists made home made cakes, including myself and seemed to go down rather well!”
The salon is planning another charity event in December details to follow!

The hair design salon, “Michael Richards”, owned by Michael Trower, was set up on the outskirts of Ipswich forty years ago this year, and now has three generations working together: his daughter, Louise Mower, is top stylist and his teenage granddaughter, Libby Robinson, is a trainee.
